Building for Tomorrow is a comprehensive, hands-on financial fitness and money management program designed to teach budgeting skills while coaching participants toward success. Completion of this program is a requirement for prospective Habitat homeowners, but it is also open to anyone in the community who is ready to – once and for all – master their money.
Building for Tomorrow is not a quick fix for your financial woes. It’s not a fast track to a Habitat home.
It is you working hard to create a better life for you and your family. It’s you learning how to build a brighter future. It’s you committed to truly wanting to change your life.
How it works:
First, you’ll complete seven weeks of money management classes, where you will establish your financial goals and create a flexible budget that works for you. Then, you’ll use a checklist of objectives to start working toward those goals. The checklist includes budgeting successfully, paying off debt, repairing your credit and improving your credit score.
Concurrently, you are invited to attend monthly workshops on a variety of financial topics such as taxes, insurance and saving.
Then, by making steady progress toward your financial goals you will qualify for a Building for Tomorrow, one-on-one financial fitness coach. That’s when the program – and your progress -- go into high gear. Your coach will be your personal go-to resource, supporter and cheer leader encouraging you every step of the way.

I just wanted to say thank you again for leading such a great class these last six weeks. It has made such a huge difference in my life already, helping me to face and begin to take charge of my finances rather than ignoring them - with a growing sense of anxiety - as I had been. Your willingness to share your financial foibles and history along with your sense of positivity and enthusiasm really made me feel as if I could change my situation too. I can't thank you enough for that.
“Habitat has saved my life twice – once when they chose me to become a homeowner and helped me build my home, and the second time when I needed to learn how to use my money. Things are still not easy, but I feel in control, with a plan, and a dream!”
