How can you help low-income families change their lives? Help them to own their own home, a secure place that will give them a boost to improve their lives. Habitat for Humanity transforms families by letting them become homeowners ... one house at a time.

Our goal is not rehabilitating houses ... it's rehabilitating families.  Choosing families is our top priority. They work hard on site to build  their "sweat equity" alongside volunteer builders.

Central Berkshire Habitat, since its start in 1993, has completed seven  new or rehabilitated projects, to house 11 families, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. More than 500 volunteers now aim to complete two projects every 18 months. Our current project is a 100-year-old Victorian.

Habitat for Humanity International has built more than 150,000 affordable houses in 70 countries around the world during its first 27 years. Our affiliate is proud to tithe donations to support projects in Nicaragua.

How can you get involved?

bullet

Families needed to apply - who do you know who would like to become homeowners?

bullet

Leaders to chair committees that support the builders

bullet

Skilled workers who can supervise others - carpenters and handymen

bullet

Fundraisers to help us get donations of building materials and funds

For example, volunteers make phone calls, supply food for lunches and coffee breaks, screen potential homeowner families, partner with accepted families, get publicity, and work with our covenant  congregations.
